Every year,
millions of candidates appear for the UPSC civil service exams. However, only a
few thousand are actually selected for the top-ranking positions in the central
government. Cracking UPSC is not a piece of cake and hardly something that
people can crack on the first attempt. However, with consistent practice and a
bit of luck, you just might be the next topper!
UPSC Exam Pattern
UPSC civil
service exams are divided into three sections. First, we have the general
aptitude test where candidates have to answer objective questions on math’s,
logic, reasoning and current affairs. The syllabus is varied and covers a gamut
of topics from past to present-day scenarios. The next part is the IAS Mains test series, where a
candidate can choose a specific area of study and answer questions related to
that. You can choose from subjects like History, English, politics, economics
and more. The last round is the personality test.
Why are IAS Mains so Difficult?
Most
candidates with a bit of practice can easily clear the first round, i.e. the
aptitude test. However, it is in the IAS Mains test series that the actual work
begins.
The second part of the UPSC exams contains a combination of subjective and
objective questions. Candidates are required to appear for 9 papers, each
dealing with a subject of their choice. There is also the main subject that you
can pick.
This
section usually requires an in-depth and advanced study of the theoretical and
practical subjects. Candidates have to be well-read and aware of a wide range
of topics. And the tough part is, there is no set syllabus here once you have
chosen a subject- almost anything can be asked in the Mains paper.
Coaching Institutes and why are they Necessary?
There are coaching institutes in every corner of the city that claim to offer the best of services to candidates. However, there are but a select few who have established a proper brand and reputation for success in the market. Dhyeya IAS is among the few that offers proper and professional training to its candidates. Here, students get trained under the best teachers in the industry. Here are some of the ways in which the faculty approaches the UPSC Mains paper;
- The
teachers provide sufficient study materials and notes for the student to
prepare from.
- The
classes are also divided in such a way that the syllabus is covered in a
stipulated time period, leaving the candidate with enough time for
self-preparation.
- The
library is well-stocked with books and previous years question papers that you
can access at an additional charge.
- Mock
tests, weekly assignments and seminars are also organized on a regular basis
for students to benefit from.
- Oftentimes,
guest lecturers and experts are invited to these programs giving students a
wonderful opportunity to interact with them.
